Our office is also involved in the earthquake retrofitting of various buildings. Inrecent years, several types of buildings for earthquake safety from our office were checked and others in Vienna, in the regions of Zurich and Basel (in the context of planned renovations). At the various mathematical proof of for the earthquake retrofitting, it was found that no special measures with regard to earthquake retrofitting are necessary in most houses. Commercial buildings (such as e.g.: existing schoolhouses and other industrial buildings) was found, however, that appropriate action for the earthquake retrofitting is needed. For a schoolhouse in Basel, with the same question, about 200.000 CHF was invested in the framework of the planned restructuring – for the above mentioned exercise in the earthquake case.
